Toby Ross has brokered rare classic cars for over two decades. Born in England, he later moved to France. Over the years his knowledge of the great French and Italian classic cars has become renowned worldwide.
Despite being responsible for the sale of many of the world’s most important automobiles, his criteria has always been to deal with cars that he personally likes. So the inherent value of a car is not important.
The choice not to have a dedicated showroom allows him to keep costs down, benefiting both buyer and seller. Often cars for sale are not on the website because of the seller’s wish for discretion. But contacts accrued over the years enable him to place cars with new owners. Transactions are always crystal clear for both the buyer and seller. Very nice example of this increasingly sought after model. Facel Vega combined French elegance with the reliability of the powerful American V8 powertrain.
Built in 1948, this is a very rare ‘Surprofilé’. Very few of these attractive coupés were built, as the design quickly changed to a somewhat boxy looking version.
This particular car is a one-off built by the highly renowned coachbuilder, Saoutchik. Thought by the club to have not survived, the car has in fact been sleeping in a garage in California for over 20 years.

This may seem strange to you, but this show was one of the highlights of my recent trip to the States. I was priviledged to see other private collections which technically deserved more attention, but in reality, this one gave me the most pleasure.
Two very similar Talbot Lago ‘long chassis’ Teardrop coupes were auctioned in 2010, both from the O’Quinn estate, both sold by RM. Although their Figoni & Falaschi bodies were near identical, very different prices were realized.
